Collage, as tried by me.
Featured on this page is a sampling of collages I have created. Only four months into the practice, I haven't amassed a very large portfolio, but I've already noticed the beginnings of what I might be so bold as to call technique. I have enjoyed making these. Though I'm not sure I can tell you what any one collage means, I hope the further content of this site can express to you what the practice means to me.
Wanna give it a go? I coded a little interactive collage maker so you can do just that!
Learning by doing
I got started by using prefabricated collage kits. This lends a cohesive aesthetic to my early work.
One of my prefab kits had a “science” motif, so you're gonna see a lot of space and sea imagery. I like how those two concepts get lumped together, thematically.
I caught myself doing a lot with heads and eyes (or the lack thereof).
Blank Space
My early goal was to fill every inch of the page. Later, I worked on incorporating more blank space.
